Quality of Life Survey
African American Women of Purpose & Power
Please take a moment to complete the survey on New Orleans Quality of Life issues, by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QualityofLifeNOLA.
The outcome of the 2010 New Orleans Municipal elections will shape the course of this city for decades, and will have a transformative impact on the African American community. Still, now nearly 5 years after Hurricane Katrina, African-Americans are affected adversely - disproportionately - by poor Quality of Life issues.
African American Women of Purpose and Power (AAWPP) was formed as a collaborative of many groups, each focused on addressing those issues that affect our community, and supporting forums where constructive dialogue can amplify diverse voices that offer proposed solutions. To that end, on January 12, 2010, AAWPP will hold a Mayoral Forum and Debate on Quality of Life issues affecting African- Americans in New Orleans.
Obtaining feedback from the community is vital to this process, as it will validate or debunk assumptions by those issues seeking New Orleans' highest elected office. We would appreciate your taking the time to complete the following survey. It should take about 10 minutes of your time. Your responses are voluntary and will be confidential. Responses will not be identified by individual. All responses will be compiled together and analyzed as a group.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Beverly Wright at bhwr...@aol.com.

A Message From President Hughes
|
I am pleased to extend special greetings to you from Dillard University, a campus that has enforced standards of excellence in teaching, research and learning since 1869. The legacy of Dillard is visible on its official seal: Ex Fide Fortis - From Strength, Courage. This university has withstood challenges and trials for many decades, and always it emerged victoriously just as it did in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Dillard's latest challenge, Hurricane Katrina, silenced the university under 6 - 10 feet of water on August 29, 2005. Despite the forecast and low odds for survival predicted by everyone, miraculously Dillard survived, and it has returned stronger, more strategically focused and highly determined to become a transformed university.
Dillard is moving forward, firm in the conviction that it is creating a 'new' Dillard, an institution that is sound, from every blade on the "spacious green" lawn to the tip of the steeple at Lawless Assembly Hall. Our commitment to knowledge is unparalleled in scope and vision. We are taking bold and unprecedented actions to create a model of educational fortitude, integrity and achievement for all who become members of this community.
Fair Dillard is looking to the future with purpose, strength, and hope for a brighter and unwavering future. We have shown the nation and the world that our resolve can move mountains. Join us as we make a better world, one amazing graduate at a time!
Warmest regards,
Marvalene Hughes, Ph.D., President
