ME, MPharm admissions from August 25 to September 7

AHMEDABAD: The admissions in Master of Engineering (ME) and Master of Pharmacy(MPharm) courses will be held from August 25 to September 7. The admissions will be conducted by the admission committee of the Gujarat Technological University (GTU).
There are 2,800 MPharm seats in the state for which 3,033 students have applied. Of these, 1,487 students have cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
The admission in ME courses will be conducted from August 29 to September 7. There are 3,000 seats and 6,000 students have applied. Of these, only 700 students have cleared GATE.
While officials say that colleges are not likely to face any problem with admission in ME courses, there is a lot of trouble expected in filling MPharm seats. It may be extremely difficult to fill the MPharm seats as the colleges running pharmacy undergraduate courses have been left high and dry with one two third of the total seats remaining vacant.
"Of the 6,500 seats, 4300 seats are vacant. This is a huge void to fill. The apathy and disinterest towards bachelor of pharmacy courses is expected to spill over onto the postgraduate pharmacy courses as well," said an official.
