Our target for Guerrilla Gay Bar's Probably Apocryphal Edition, which goes down this Friday, September 12 at 9 PM is:

WAIT, I THOUGHT THE GRIFFIN WAS EXTINCT?

No longer, comrades. The Griffin -- whose logo features the half-lion half-eagle with a martini glass -- opened just last fall in Los Feliz. Citysearch says:

"Black forest decor meets an low-key hipster vibe under this cavernous, arched brick ceiling. Crimson velvet curtains and a long walnut bar are dramatically heightened with Germanic oil paintings, distressed tapestries, flickering candles and golden hanging lanterns. Curved red leather couches frame two huge stone fireplace tables, and intimate corner booths invite flirtation...."

CAN I BRING MY CHUPACABRA?

No, but you should bring money for the jukebox, your camera so you can post pictures of the insurgency at http://flickr.com/groups/ggbla, and your friends so that they will buy you a round and be your designated driver. 

But first, tell your friends to sign themselves up for our email list at http://www.guerrillagaybar.com/ so they'll be the first to hear about all our future takeovers.

WHAT IF IT'S A SEEING-EYE CHUPACABRA?

You can't even wear shorts to the Griffin, so, probably still no.

If you're feeling creative this month, come dressed as a gay mythical creature (possibilities include the boy next door, the closeted frat boy, or the horny pizza delivery boy.) Or, if you're not feeling creative, wear stripes so that people will know you're with the revolution.

Whatever you wear, stay away from shorts and open-toed shoes if you want to get in.

PLAN B

If you get to the Griffin and find a long line, there are a couple of great bars within easy walking distance: the Bigfoot Lodge, (keeping with this month's theme), is at 3172 Los Feliz Blvd., while original hipster favorite The Roost is only a block away from the Griffin at 3100 Los Feliz (Note that the Roost is cash only.  But, they do have free popcorn.)  So, instead of waiting in line, you can grab your first drink up the street, then come back to the Griffin once the line has died down.

And, as always, remember our motto: take care of your bartender, and the rest will take care of itself.
