GUERRILLA GAY BAR COMMUNIQUE No. 35Greetings, Guerrillas!
Not since Normandy has there been this scale invasion on sand!
Get out your sunblock, coolers and frisbees, because we're pleased to announce that this month's Guerrilla Gay takeover is heading to the west side - the extreme west side, in fact, when we take over:
VENICE BEACHWe'll set up camp at 1 P.M. around Lifeguard Station 18, which is just behind the Venice Beach police station, and just south of the public graffiti walls. When you get to the Boardwalk, find Windward Ave., then head out on the sand and look for Lifeguard Stand #18 (or, head out to the sand wherever, and follow the numbers on the stands until you find #18.)
Weekend parking is tough in Venice, so we suggest carpooling. Pay parking lots are available, but expensive, so if you carpool, you can split the cost. Alternatively, you're likely to find free parking on the residential streets off South Venice (here's a Google Map that may help:

After a couple of hours of sun and surf,
at 3:30 PM, we will head up to the boardwalk to:
Danny's Venice Deli
23 Windward Ave
Venice, CA 90291

SWIMMING COSTUMESTo identify yourself as a Guerrilla Gay insurgent,
please wear a solid red or blue t-shirt to the beach
(Bastille Day, anyone?). We won't have black arm bands this time (tan lines!), so
keep your t-shirt visible on your towel if you want to take it off to get some sun.
BEACH BLANKET BINGO Let us know you're coming! Tell us what SPF you prefer when you RSVP at
http://events.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=events.detail&eventID=347548.4694 Feel free to forward this email to anyone you think may be interested, or repost this as a bulletin. Your friends can sign up for themselves, and be the first to hear about future takeovers at
http://www.guerrillagaybar.com/UNDER THE BOARDWALKWe're trying something new this month! After the our victory taking over the Saddle Ranch, we decided the time is right to branch out.
In August, we'll go back to our standard bar takeover, but this month, we decided to try a 180 degree turn - a daytime event, that's not (only) in a bar, and that's open to all ages.
We'd love to mix things up some more in the future, but we're eager to hear what you think. Would you like to see more of these types of takeovers? Do you think we should stick to bars? Would you like to see a mix of the two? We've got a special unit ready to analyze your responses us know at
h...@guerrillagaybar.com.
In the meantime, we'll see you on the beach!
Viva la revolution!
