Recycling Archives Project Featured at Next Campus Council Meeting of the National Recycling Coalition
The public is invited to attend monthly meetings of the NRC’s Campus Council. 90 minute zoom gatherings are scheduled for every last Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, February 25th, 12-1:30pm Eastern time.
At this month's meeting, a discussion with leaders of the National Recycling Archives Project is sure to inform, inspire, and engage. The Project curates stories about diverse experiences during the invention and development of recycling from the 1970s to the present. "These stories are from some amazing people who, with such vision, creativity and dedication, helped lay the foundation for our recycling system,” concludes Susan Kinsella, Archives Project Director and recent recipient of the NRC’s Lifetime Achievement award.
Dr. Neil Seldman from the Institute for Local Self Reliance is one of the Pioneers, also attending. Hear his stories about getting started in the recycling movement and opportunities that are ready for young people today.
Dr. Dan Knapp and Mary Lou Van Deventer (co-founders of Urban Ore, Inc.) will add perspective on the project's evolution since its founding in 2007. Together, the speakers will treat the audience with hopeful, active lessons for the future.
The NRC’s Campus Council creates stronger linkages between higher ed and the sustainable materials management industry and is guided in part by recommendations in a 2015 White Paper to the EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management Summit. The Council’s most current report is available here: 2024-25 Campus Council Strategic Plan.
