NSAC-sponsored AB 2208 by Assemblymember Ash Kalra and Senator Josh Becker will phase out the sale of mercury-containing compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and linear fluorescent lamps (LFLs) by 2025 in CA for general lighting purposes. AB 2208 is an important climate savings measure that will protect public health and the environment through less-toxic and more energy-efficient lighting.

AB 2208 is now on it's way to Governor Newsom's desk where it will await his signature. If he does not veto or sign the bill within 30 days of it reaching his desk, it automatically becomes law. Read Assemblymember Kalra's press release here
