Hello eco-savvy friends,

I know we’re all about reducing, reusing, and recycling here, but I wanted to flag a small twist in the winds of tech shopping: with tariffs potentially looming, new gadgets might become decidedly spendier next year.

Conveniently (or ominously, depending on your inbox), it’s Cyber Week. If you’ve been nursing a phone with a screen resembling abstract art or a laptop that boots slower than bread dough rising, this might be the moment to consider an upgrade.

Take my 20-year-old laptop, for instance. It’s been a faithful companion, its keys worn smooth like 200-year-old church steps. But alas, it struggles with Zoom, and its motherboard won’t support Windows 11—leaving it vulnerable when Windows 10 security updates end next year. Retirement is bittersweet, but it’s time.

Think of upgrading not as indulgence, but as preemptive sustainability: investing now to avoid sticker shock and secure a device that will serve you well into the future.

It might be worth peeking at those sales—not as a splurge, but as a calculated act of thriftiness.

Cheers to mindful tech transitions,

Chris
