Manna Cabanna Summer and Fall
Community Supported Agriculture Program
A tasty season of tomatoes, cantaloupe, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, cucumber, and so much more!
Carol Lynn Jackson is a local organic food system advocate and owner of Manna Cabanna in Historic Downtown Saluda, North Carolina. Manna Cabanna is a year-round CSA and retail local organic foods and products outlet operating out of an historic red caboose structure in downtown Saluda, NC. The Cabanna will be open for its 6th year of business out of the roadside stand in May of 2012. Sign-ups for Manna Cabanna's popular multi-farm CSA subscriptions are on-sale now, with a limited number available.

Carol Lynn shares this about her "growing" business: "The role of my business within the local food system of WNC is to bridge the marketing and distribution gap for organic food producers lending administrative support and "social capital" to the producer. The immediate result is a sustainable system that places local food directly onto the tables of local consumers. Our 18-week Summer/Fall CSA offers produce, herbs, and value-added organic whole foods to the subscriber from late May onward. In exchange for paying a below market, upfront fee, shareholders receive weekly organic produce. Local organic growers, in turn, are guaranteed that what they grow is already sold. It's a win, win, win situation for a local food entrepreneur, local organic farmers, and local food consumers." Which, she adds, is everyone.

“We have all types of people joining the CSA. People who grow and shop farmers’ markets are often times still CSA members. There is enough diversity in our multi-farm approach that it becomes the “staples” share that they work off of from there. Its’ also the most direct and sustainable support for a farm, as your “share” that you hold in those farms is money already sent to the farmer, versus them harvesting and then hoping they move it all at market. “
