First of all, please accept my apologies for the delay in response. I
am the moderator of our team's emails. I was away this weekend and did
not get to your email until today.
Regarding the work we have done on benchmarking the energy usage, I'll
give a summary and the rest of the team can chime with info I have
missed.
We began by getting a complete list of town municipal buildings from
our town clerk. Then approached the managers of those facilities to
get a couple of years worth of utility bills. Our committee members
also took the time to speak with the managers and staff on concerns
they had about the energy usage and efficiencies (Often, according to
our committee members, the managers were more than willing to help
with the utility bills). Once we had the bills, we created a
spreadsheet showing the electricity and oil usage for each facility.
We have a copy of this here under the "Files" section (http://
greenbolton.googlegroups.com/web/TownBuildings_EnergyUse.xls?

Currently, we are trying to coordinate energy audits for these
facilities. We are finding that there has been some started. So now we
are getting cost estimates for the necessary audits. We will present
the information we have collected to our selectmen. With their
support, we will propose for funding the energy audits for our
facilities. Meanwhile, we will try to get utility bills back further
than 2 years to get a more accurate picture of energy usage. From our
experience, we have noticed that a lot of valuable information comes
from speaking directly with the facility staff.
I'll defer to the rest of our team for anything additional. Good luck
with your efforts!

I'm not sure if you were copied on Chinloo's last email, so I'm just
resending it.
