Hello Gears!
What
a great Gears week last week! We had almost 20 Riders
show up for Thursday’s ride out to Camas Bakery. And then we had over 25 Riders on yesterday’s
ride! Great stuff! Great riding!
Is this really December?
We
also had a fun, informative and well attended General Meeting on Thursday
Evening! Right at 35 folks showed up to participate
and enjoy the community, pizza and friendships. We will have new Board Members
to support for 2020! John and Mary are returning and Mark,
Kayna and David will be new to the Board. And of course, Michael Cantrell is a huge part of the Board as
Club Administrator! I know they will do
their best to help us into and through 2022!
Thanks to Karen, Bethany, Doug, Tim, and David for there time serving on
the Board in 2021!! We are a better Cycling
Club because of your efforts! Since you
all have more time now, I’m always looking for Ride Leaders!!
What’s
going on for this week?? Exciting fun
rides! Don’t forget that on Thursday, at
6:00 p.m., we will leave from Paige Elementary School for our Springfield Christmas
Lights Ride. Please note that a head
lamp and a taillight is mandatory for this ride to ensure we offer some very
good visuals for the nighttime riding – and oh by the way, you can decorate
your bike and have a chance to win a “Best Dressed Bike” prize! We will ride about 12 miles total, at a very cautious
and easy pace. Jackie, Angie, and I will
be leading this ride. I’m told there
could be goodies to enjoy after the ride!
Come on out and join us! (The
following Tuesday, we will be doing the same in Eugene!)
The
following Rides start/end at Alton Baker Park at 9:30 a.m.:
Tomorrow,
Monday, December 6th, Mike will lead our “Slo-Mo Monday” Riders (10
to 12 mph), out Clearwater Trail & Scenic Springfield, 25 miles, 559’
gain. Is the Weather Person going
to be correct – Rain?? TBD! Sometimes that doesn’t stop us………….
On Tuesday, December 7th, Sam (remember Sam, our Mountain Goat Climbing Machine), will lead 13 to 15 mph Riders up, over and around some of our local hills, 25 to 50 miles, Level C.
On
Thursday, December 9th, Mike Resing will lead 13 to 15 mph Riders
out Sovern Lane, 38 miles, 343’ gain.
Don’t
forget about the Springfield Christmas Light Ride that evening/night.
On
Saturday, December 11th, we have 2 speed level Rides. John Reidy and Darian Morray will lead 13 to
15 mph and 16+ Riders up and over Fox Hollow to Lorane Hwy, Pine Grove, 39
miles, 1,900’ gain.
And
then on Monday, December 13th, I will lead our “Slo-Mo Monday” Riders
(10 to 12 mph) over McKenzie View, 26 miles, Level B.
Come
on out and join us – there are not many more ride opportunities for 2021 – get them
in while you can!!
Peace,
Larry
