Virginia Ave-Daisy St Upcoming Construction March 11, 2026 Dear Neighbor: You are receiving this e-update to update you on several upcoming projects in the Virginia-Daisy corridor.  New Waterline Installation S 51st St to Bob Straub Pkwy What is happening? The Springfield Utility Board Water Division will be installing new water transmission lines and replacing distribution lines along Daisy Street between S 51st St and Bob Straub Parkway. SUB Water will restore the pavement where the waterline construction has occurred. When will the work happen? This work is scheduled to begin May 4, 2026, and last through August 2026. Work will take place Monday-Friday during daytime hours. No work is expected to take place during the evening or weekends unless an emergency arises. How will residents be impacted? During construction, water service will be interrupted at various times. SUB crews will notify all affected residents at least 24 hours prior to water off operations via door hangers. At various stages of SUB's work, no street parking will be available. Parking will be restored as soon as possible. SUB crews will place "No Parking" signs at least 24 hours in advance in the affected areas. While SUB water crews install the improvements, traffic control will be in place. Daisy Street S 51st St to Bob Straub Pkwy (2024 GO BOND Project B21007) What is happening? As part of the voter-approved General Obligation Bond 20-351, this project will mill and overlay the remaining roadway that the SUB Water project did not affect. The project will also construct ADA upgrades to existing ramps. When will the work happen? This project is in design and planned for construction in 2027 in order for the SUB Water work to be complete. More project information here  Virginia Ave-Daisy St S 32nd St to Bob Straub Pkwy Project P21160 What is happening? The City received a federal grant to install various pedestrian and bicycle treatments consistent with a bicycle boulevard. These treatments include: Enhanced crossings (curb extensions or raised crossings) along the corridor at locations such as S.35th St., S.38th St., S.40th St., S.41st St., S.51st Pl., S.54th St. trail connection, and trail connection east of S.57th Pl. 4 speed humps (various locations) Sidewalk infill (S.51st to S.52nd St.) Pavement markings (S.32nd St. to S.41st Pl.) When will the work happen? This project will occur after the bond project mentioned above because the funding sources cannot be combined. More project information here   Contact: Kristi Krueger, P.E.
