Merry Christmas GEARs!
It’s been a while since I added words to this GEARs Group site, so I thought I’d take the time to wish you all the very best Christmas, Holiday and New Years!
According to our Wonderful Ride Coordinator – “Kentucky Bob”, 2025 was another Great Year of GEARs Riding! He’ll be putting out numbers at the GEARs Awards Gathering coming up in early 2026 and in a future GEARs Newsletter.
To me, the key is that we keep Riding and enjoying the company of those we Ride alongside and the places the Routes take us! I know we all appreciate all the Ride Leaders who show up and take us places!
Back to Riding and Christmas – how many of you had a bicycle under the Christmas Tree while you were growing up? I remember my 1960 Schwinn Speedster, green, 26”, with a coaster brake. The size was perfect for my 10-year-old long legs (I couldn’t raise the saddle of my 24” Red Schwinn Spitfire with a coaster brake any more), also a Christmas present.
There are many reasons to celebrate Christmas, and along with those reasons, for me, Christmas has been a primary reason for my still enjoying Riding it just keeps on giving – health, friendships, adventures, gets me outside into our wonderful world, and personal accomplishments. Riding also brought my Beautiful Wife and I to Eugene so I could Ride next to Rivers, in places of green surroundings and yes, sometimes rain and cold – which led to my joining a GREAT CYCLING CLUB known as GEARs!
May this year fill you with even more Amazing Riding & Beyond Memories.
Peace & Merry Christmas to All!
Larry
