Ok interested GEARs Riders - we are going to try to make this thing work. Please sign up with "Signup Genius".
Mark is willing to be the Ride Leader and I'll be the Trusty Sweep; however, there could be determining factors:
FACTOR #1At this time Air Quality looks to be "100", which is rideable, but might make wanting to drive that far and have the quality get worse be illogical (that's the Spoken Spock in me). There are fires still going on closer to Sisters/Bend. At 150, GEARs will automatically cancel the ride.
FACTOR #2
At this time, there is a 6% chance of Thunderstorms, which would take away FACTOR #1; however, Thunderstorms normally have lightening, and while the type of frame I ride may not be a dominate factor in a lightening strike; a lightening strike is determind by an object's height, isolation and pointy shape - it's stands to reason that I may be the largest, most pointy thing riding at 6,000+ feet, which should those projections get worse could make riding the Rim illogical, and probably not just for me.
FACTOR #3
If your lungs and legs are not on the same page, well bring oxygen and be willing to share it - afterall, GEARs Scheduled Riding is a Team Sport! The Ride will be at 6,000 to 8,000 feet - I struggle with breathing at the top of Fox Hollow. This one is an Individual Factor.
If none of this slows your desire to Ride the Rim with GEARs, then by all means, read on:
