Dear colleague,
I have exciting news to share: We are just 16 days away from the launch of the Medicare for All Act in the U.S. House and Senate!
On May 16, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Pramila Jayapal and will celebrate the launch of their respective single-payer bills with an event in Washington, D.C. This will be an opportunity for us to highlight exactly what Medicare for All would mean to our patients, our colleagues, and our communities.
Earlier this week, Eagan Kemp of Public Citizen and Ben Day of Healthcare-NOW briefed us on what to expect from this upcoming legislation, and what we can do as activists to make sure our legislators sign on as original cosponsors.

While we are still waiting for final text of these bills, we know that they will include the cornerstones of single-payer reform: Universal coverage, comprehensive benefits, and zero financial barriers to care. Stay tuned for a more detailed analysis of the bills, and for info about the May 16 launch event.
In the meantime, please contact your U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators, and urge them to sign on as original cosponsors!
Our friends at Healthcare-NOW have put together a terrific guide to help with your outreach. Start with a phone call, request an in-person meeting, and let your legislators know that you are committed to single payer, you are organizing in their district, and you aren’t planning to stop anytime soon.
Together, we can make a big splash for health justice on May 16!
