Dear Sisters in Christ,
Hello, my name is Lori Elder and I love to take weekend backpacking trips. My husband is not a believer, yet, and I am reaching out to any of you women who may want to get to know me. I am 56 and have been a member at Sunset for a few years now. I would love to get acquainted with any of you personally, say meet after church for coffee. A few weeks ago I did a one night out and back on the Timberline Trail to Paradise Park. Creation was spectacular on the mtn! I went alone as my husband is not overly fond of backpacking. Well, not exactly alone, as I did take my German Shepherd. So, if any of you gals are alone or in my situation I would love to meet you!
Blessings,
Lori Elder

Subject: [GA BackPacking] Deschutes River Raft Trip & Maupin Group Camp Aug 31- Sep 2
Deschutes River Raft Trip & Maupin City Group Camp
Aug 31 - Sep 2
Maupin City Park, Maupin, Oregon
Deschutes River day float and river camp at Maupin City Park with all the amenities including restaurants and hot showers. Our experienced team is focused on safety; we provide all the rafting equipment including three commercial paddle rafts, ten inflatable open-top kayaks for those ready to stretch their boundaries, personal floatation devices (jackets), and light breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
Everyone pitches in to help where needed. Carpool/caravan departs from Portland Friday midday and early Saturday morning. You have the option to camp over Friday and Saturday evening, or just make it a day trip. Please let me know your swimming level and travel plans as part of your RSVP Reply.
Wayne Rickert, Taylor Mehringer and Bryan Miller will be our primary guides for this float trip. We'll send out details Aug 24 to those who RSVP. Limited to the first 26 guests (+3 guides), RSVP Early - $55 fee holds you a seat on the boat. Make checks payable to Bryan Miller.
Maupin City Park is a popular grassy campground along the river's edge at a half-way point down the river trip situated within the City of Maupin. Because of space limitations in our group site, we encourage sharing tents and carpooling where possible. There will be hot showers for $3 (bring quarters) and restaurants within a short walking distance. Other than a breakfast snack and lunch on Saturday, you will be on your own for other meals. There are local restaurants and for the most part guests will walk over eat together in groups.
For those who only plan to come up for the day on Saturday, we are recommending you meet up at the Sunset parking lot at 6:00 AM to carpool/caravan to Maupin, Oregon. We will have the camp set up Friday afternoon for those who wish to come up Friday afternoon/evening. We’ll break camp Sunday later Sunday morning.
