Green Lakes Basin Backpacking Trip August 12-14

Synopsis:  13 miles round trip.

2 nights camping in the wilderness.

(Subject to change depending on the weather.)

The Green Lakes basin holds one large and two small turquoise gems that reflect the top of South Sister.   The hike to the lakes is about 5 miles.  We plan to camp at the lake for two nights, and hike out via a slightly longer route (about 8 miles) on August 14 and return home that night stopping for dinner along the way.  While at the lakes, you’ll be free to play in the lake, fish, or take a day hike to one of the nearby lakes, meadows or high vistas.  We plan to leave the church the morning of August 12th.  This is a good hike for beginners. Families are welcome.

Logistics:  Maximum group size 8. A $15 reservation deposit is required. First 8 with reservation deposits have priority. Three Standby slots are available in the event a reservation is cancelled.  Loaner backpacks and tents are available through the hike leader. Backpackers need to arrange their own meals for the trail (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners) and food for the road.  We will depart the Church parking lot at 7:00AM and carpool to the trailhead.
