Solidarity from the Trinational Coalition in Defense of Public Education with the union and social organizations of the United States that will mobilize on January 12 in the
NATIONAL DAY OF RESISTENCE
FOR SAFE AND HEALTHY SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES
The education workers (staff, teachers and researchers, students), trade unionists and organizations that make up the Mexican section of the Trinational Coalition in Defense of Public Education, proudly salute all of the organizations that have mobilized on the National Day of Resistance, Tuesday, January 12, because all of us want safe and healthy schools and communities.
We embrace your demands as ours, which represent the minimum that must be undertaken before the resumption of face-to-face classes. The actions of any government must prioritize the health and safety of school communities. Education workers recognize that we are the first line of defense of the communities of which we are a part.
It has become clear to everyone that the tremendous damage caused by the ongoing pandemic has been facilitated by 40 years of applying policies that dismantled health services and public education structures. We cannot allow predatory policies to continue to be implemented. It is time for those who benefited from building gigantic fortunes at the cost of the sacrifice of the majority, to give back what in justice belongs to our society, which is also the true creator of wealth.
We are going to defend our communities, we are going to build the safe and healthy conditions that our students deserve, we are going to ensure that, after health service workers, teachers, education workers and school communities are the priority for vaccinations, and we do so to guarantee that the material conditions of our schools are truly adequate for a safe return.
Fraternally,
