IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- VIASPACE Inc. (OTC
Bulletin Board: VSPC), a clean energy company growing Giant King™
Grass as a low-carbon, renewable biomass crop, reported that Chief
Executive Dr. Carl Kukkonen was interviewed by two of the largest
newspapers in Shenzhen, China following his presentation on Giant King
Grass at the first anniversary Symposium of the School of Environment
and Energy, Peking University Graduate School in Shenzhen on October
10, 2010. The School of Environment and Energy was established to
address critical environment and energy issues arising from China's
rapid economic growth. Kukkonen was in Asia for much of October for
business and technical meetings.

The story in the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily—the city's top newspaper
and one of the most influential in China-- was headlined "Using Giant
King Grass to Generate Electricity is 1/4th the Cost of Solar" and
featured a picture of Dr. Kukkonen with Giant King Grass. The article
went on to say that Giant King Grass was a great renewable alternative
to replace coal. In addition, the cost of generating electricity with
Giant King Grass is only 1/4 solar, 1/2 of wind, and substantially
cheaper than natural gas and crude oil. At the end of the article, the
paper noted that only 80 million hectares of Giant King Grass could
replace the world's need for coal.
