Our friends in African Communities Together invite you to join them (see below).

We're working with ACT to get Alexandria to adopt strong tenant protections. You can read about it here: https://grassrootsalexandria.org/teams/housing/

You can also directly join and work with ACT (see below). Or do both!

Dear Jonathan,

Right now, the City of Alexandria is updating its Housing Master Plan — a roadmap that will shape housing policies for years to come. Yet, African residents, many of whom are facing rising rents and limited protections, risk being left out of the conversation.

At African Communities Together (ACT), we're launching a campaign to change that — and we need you with us.

Here's what we're fighting for:

  • More affordable housing that reflects our community's needs
  • Fairer, more accessible rental assistance programs
  • Stronger tenant protections so families aren't left vulnerable

We're also working to build deeper engagement between African residents and city officials — because our lived experiences matter and should be reflected in the Housing Master Plan.

Join our campaign today and help shape a more just housing future for all in Alexandria. Your voice is powerful — and it's time the city hears it.
