Take action and keep the momentum up to get ICE out of VA.

Dear Jonathan ,

La ColectiVA and our statewide network of partners and allies, including members of the Virginia Abolitionist Response Network and Free Them All VA Coalition, invite you to join us in demanding Virginia's elected officials take immediate and bold action to defund and abolish ICE. Right now, we have national momentum and a real shot at curbing ICE once and for all.

Send an email to VA reps today here!

We know that simply holding or attaching conditions to their funding is not enough. As long as ICE is in our streets and ICE prisons remain open, Virginian families and neighbors will not be safe. VA elected officials must refuse the use of public resources to aid ICE terror. Our communities demand action NOW!

We demand the following from VA elected officials:

  • VA Sen. Kaine and Sen. Warner support legislation to abolish ICE and defund DHS in all upcoming budget negotiations. Those funds should be dedicated toward reaffirming and investing in tangible commitments to real safety, dignity, and inclusion.
  • VA Governor Spanberger issue an executive order directing the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Corrections to immediately cancel their 287(g) agreements with ICE and end all collaboration between VA state agencies and ICE.
  • VA General Assembly pass legislation to ban all collaboration between police and ICE and reverse the polices that allow VA to be exploited by detention profiteers.
  • Local elected officials end all 287(g) and IGSAs with ICE and oppose the opening of new ICE detention centers within their jurisdictions, and instead, work toward shutting down existing ICE prisons and releasing detained community members.

Send an email action and share with others. Let's make it loud and clear: Abolishing ICE is the only answer.

In Solidarity,

La ColectiVA
