IE 6 caches old version of GWT component

Could somebody help explaining how does GWT manage broswer caching?
My understanding is the broswer should be forced to retreive the new
version of DHTML and javascript after server is updated. FireFox
seems working but IE 6 is not. Is this an IE bug? My IE's caching
setting is "Automatically".

Technically, GWT doesn't manage caching. the generated files are given
names that will help in configuring your server to add the proper
Cache-Control headers.

your server should indicate to the browser that the *.nocache.* should
not be cached, and *.cache.* files can be cached indefinitely.

If your server has mistakenly told the browser that a *.nocache.* file
is cacheable you could end up getting an old version of your GWT
application.

Asking your browser to clear its cache should allow you to get the new
version.

Are you using Tomcat or Apache to serve the files? Do you access the files throw a proxy? You have to configure your servers to send a 'Pragma: no-cache' and a 'Expire: 0' and your proxies to no cache '*nocache.*' files.
