Hi,

have anyone tried to index an Progress Database with Google GSA?

I want to use Google Search Appliance >Crawl and Index >Databases

With regards,
Svein Erik Kro

Hello Svein Erik,

I think this is not supported. Looking at the list of supported DBs
on:
http://code.google.com/apis/searchappliance/documentation/60/database_crawl_serve.html#_Databases_Supported_by_the%20Applianc

there no entry for Progress. The easiest way is probably either to
write a custom connector a simple script. For the latter, you might be
able to adapt Connect.java from
http://code.google.com/p/gsa-admin-toolkit/
and then write your own feed submission method following the
indications on http://code.google.com/apis/searchappliance/documentation/60/feedsguide.html.

Hope it helps
Michael

Hello Svein Erik,

If you're running Google GSA 6.0+ maybe you can try the database
connector:

http://code.google.com/p/google-enterprise-connector-database/

The database connector is still in alpha, and I can tell you that the
alpha does not work out of the box. The latest source code is a little
better, but you will need to download the source and compile it.

I don't want to scare you off; it will get better, and using it and
reporting issues is a good way to help it get better. But you should
know what you're getting into.
