Hi, I am a google search appliance developer and I had the following
questions as a part of my survey:

1) How often do you as admins export your GSA's config via the Import/
Export feature on the Admin console?
2) Do you rely in anyway, on the security provided by the passphrase
during export?
3) Would it affect you if the passphrase requirement during export
went away?
4) Would you like the ability to modify an exported config in your
text editor of choice?
5) Does not being able to do 4) affect your life as a GSA admin in
anyway?

I raise questions 2) and 3) because I wonder if the original rationale
for introducing a passphrase still stands or not. The idea of the
passphrase is as follows: You provide passphrase 'P' during export and
generate file 'config.xml'. Now, when you import 'config.xml' you must
provide the same passphrase 'P', if you cannot provide 'P', you cannot
import 'config.xml'.

Thanks,

Hareesh

Funny you should ask, because I was just trying to do #4 and came to
the group to see if there was a way around the signature check.

The passphrase doesn't seem particularly useful to me.

Thank you (I did not receive a reply from anyone else). The pass-
phrase will remain for the upcoming release -- 5.2

Thanks,

Hareesh
