Hi,

I have got a GSA box which is configured and is working fine :), No
doubt, with all your help.

Now I got another GSA box. I need to configure the new box as exactly
same as the old one. How can I do that?

Is there any functionality that Google provides which will help me out
to take a Backup from the existing box and restore in the new one?

Waiting for your help.

Thanks in advance..

Thanks & Best Regards,
Ashly.

Should be easy to do.

Your search appliance provides the ability to export all configuration information in a single file and import it back into the system. The exported file serves as a reliable backup of the configuration and can be used to replicate the same configuration across multiple appliances

So login to the GSA Admin interface, go to Administration --> Import / Export and export your config file and then import it into the new box and you should be good to go.

I've not done this myself, since we only have one GSA, but this seems to be exactly what you want / need.

Hth.

I have a quick question.

Does this export and import the index ( Google database) as well? or
just the configurations?

Thanks,
Ashly.

Just configuration. The new box, once configured; will have to create its own index based on that imported config file, which means re-crawling all content and populating the new box's index, which will take x number of hours depending upon how much 'stuff' you've got to crawl...

In addition to doing the import/export from Admin Console, there is
also a sample script in the admin toolkit that can do it
programmatically without the use of a web browser. It is called
adminconsole.py and can be downloaded from:

http://code.google.com/p/gsa-admin-toolkit/

To run the script, you will need the Python runtime, which can be
downloaded from www.python.org.
