Not sure if this helps but I do have a page that DISPLAYS the lat/long
http://www.yorkshire-cadets.co.uk/Latitude-Longitude.php
Not (yet) gone further and got the lat/long stored to a database but
this incomplete variant
http://www.yorkshire-cadets.co.uk/Latitude-Longitude1.php
copies the lat/lon to form fields - you just need a php script to do
write to the database when the button is clicked.
So far gmapez is not involved, however as a precursor to a page that
reads a list of lat/long and uses gmapez to display them it's
relevant.
I'd be wary of making it a public facility as people may "spam" it
with garbage locations - or "real" users may need a couple of attempts
before they get it right...
