in my album i have stills and movies (quictime one, .mov)

with windows version picasa 3 i can manage my movies and i can upload
them

with linux version picasa 3 picasa does not see my little quictime
movies in my folders

i am very impatient to have this feature. i was expecting this
feature. i am very disappointed this feature is not activated in the
linux version.

Please a simple way to activate this feature is to add in picasa
"quicktime alternative" (http://www.codecguide.com/about_qt.htm) or
more general "media player classic" (http://sourceforge.net/projects/
guliverkli2/)" or "media player classic home cinema" (http://mpc-
hc.sourceforge.net/)

We disabled the movie features on purpose because they're simply not
ready yet. If you can tolerate more crashes, install Quicktime
Alternative, set the rendering to GDI instead of DirectDraw, set Wine
to WinXP, enable Quicktime in Picasa, and off you go.

Can i rotate my movies when this feature was ready (bottom enabled but
nothing to do)?

I don't think we're there yet, but you can try and find out if you are
adventurous.

ok thank you
i know how to install quicktime alternative with the wine i installed
with the supplied Mandriva rpm and it works well with the windows
picasa version.
But i don't know how to install quicktime alternative with the picasa
wine of the linux version
How to say to wine to install not in ~/.wine/ but in ~/.google/picasa/
3.0/ ?
Is it necessary to install quicktime alternative as root because Linux
Picasa is also installed in /opt/google/picasa/3.0/ ?

thank you

No, you never need root permissions to install into ~/.google/picasa/
3.0/.

Instead of running wine foo.exe, run /opt/google/picasa/bin/wrapper
foo.exe.

i used "/opt/google/picasa/3.0/bin/wrapper winecfg" :

to activate the audio driver (alsa was selected automaticaly)
to check with winecfg test button sound works well
but in linux picasa no sound when viewing my .mov also with sound at
maximum

i solved the sound pb; this is a pulse audio pb with the wine of
picasa i assume (wine 1.1.4 of mandriva no pb)

launch winecfg with /opt/google/picasa/3.0/bin/wrapper winecfg
go to audio tab
unselect alsa
select OSS
with your menu entry manager (kmenu-edit for me with kde) change the
launch control to
from
/opt/google/picasa/3.0/bin/picasa
to
padsp /opt/google/picasa/3.0/bin/picasa
