"Couldn't load the volumeControl DLL :("
I get this error every time I load version 1.2 in Windows XP.

Also in Version 1.1 I keep noticing my volume fading out to nothing
every once in a while while this gadget is loaded.

I'm also having the same problem.

This is really odd. I'm trying to locate and resolve the problem.

One question: Do you have Internet Explorer 7 installed ? One of the
checks revealed that this could be the cause. I do not know yet why
the compiler added this dependency but let me know if you do. if you
do not have it installed you could try to install it and see if that
fixes the problem for you?

Best regards,
Benjamin

Ok, that eliminates that theory. Hmm, what soundcard are you using ?
Do you have multiple Windows XP pcs and does it occur on every one?

Thank you for your help in this matter Mr. Schirmer. However I have
decided to no longer use Google Desktop as I was having multiple
problems.

Thanks again.

With the old version I could reproduce the error in a virtual pc but
the new version is working in the virtual pc as well as on my laptop.
Unless I can reproduce the error it is very hard for me to find and
fix it. I am really sorry about this but there is currently not that
much I can do except for asking you to give me as much information
about your system as possible so I can maybe pinpoint the error.

One thing you could try is to unzip the gadget (download the gg file
and rename the extension to zip) and then check the included dll file
for dependency errors using the Dependency Walker (http://
www.dependencywalker.com/). If it reports any errors with the dll file
please mail me the information.

Best regards,
Benjamin

Hello! I also got the dreaded error.
Dependency Walker claims it's fault of missing (?) function in mpr.dll
file:

[rar'ed .dwi file]
http://rapidshare.com/files/49994401/VolumeControlDLL.rar.html
I'm surprised, that application that should be really simple, uses
sooo much files...
I hope that will help in fixing problem. In case of questions, please
mail me, ok?

I'm also having the same problem!

I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE7 signed in as a Domain user (so my "My
Documents" directory is actually on the Domain Server computer, not
local). I an running with Admin rights locally, though.

Hope this helps to track down the problem.

Just bought a new Dell computer (inspiron 530, 2GB memory) with VISTA
HOME PREMIUM. So far, VISTA isn't worth being PAID to use!

Every time I try to start the computer I receive the error message
"VolumeControlVista*.exe has stopped working A problem caused the the
program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and
notify you if a solution is available."

Often this error pops up repeatedly, over and over -- until I just
give up and unplug the machine (otherwise it can't even be turned off
or otherwise shut down). VERY frustrating.

And the version I'm trying to access on the monitor screen is the one
for Vista! Help!

Hello Benjamin;
I also received the "Couldn't load the volumeControl DLL :(" error
message.
I have a Dell Latitude 131L, running XP-Pro, SP2, Sigma-Tel HiDef
Audio, driver is dated 7.27.2006.
I also have IE7 installed, and I use that and Firefox together.
Let me know what I can do to assist. Should I run the dependancy
walker you mentioned?
