Countries and the Google API

I have a developer who produced code to use Google which works but for
countries it fails. Can the API handle countries?

eg amazon books should give amazon.co.uk in the UK and amazon.com in
the US.

There is no way to specify localized indexes with the AJAX Search API.
In other words, you can't tell it to search google.co.uk. It will
always search as if on google.com
