We've been pursuing some similar ideas, but more related to collecting
common sense knowledge. I checked out your idea stock exchange. I like
the idea, in general. Are you familiar with issue-based information
systems? That seems to be kind of what you're doing, except for the
voting part. Of course, more votes for an idea doesn't make it a better
idea; just a more popular one. So, the "best" reasons supporting an
argument wouldn't necessarily float to the top; just the most popular.
And the IBIS systems tend to have more link types than just agree and
disagree. The following excerpt from Randall Trigg's 1983 thesis might

The main two things that limit our work in this area are money and
time.
We do have a very simplified version of all of this that we should be
publishing on the Web soon. It doesn't allow the user to enter new
information. It just presents them with assertions (e.g., "the sky is
blue") and records their level of agreement with the statement. The
same
statements are rated (voted on) by many people. After statistical
analysis, we end up with a better understanding of which facts and
rules
in the KB we should trust.
