Hello GGRC!

We had an outstanding year, some highlights included an injury prevention workshop, incredible member achievements with Kerry running a 2:58 marathon and winning the Denim Mile at 6:09 min/mi, and Sarah qualifying for the Boston Marathon at the Napa Valley Marathon (we miss you friend). Our top finishers also include Coach Lena who was #1 in her Age Group and #3 overall female at the Lunar New Year Race, Jackie who took #2 in his Age Group at the same event, and Geoff (#1 in Age Group) and Charlene (#2 in Age Group) at the Fremont 10K. Our successful community events included the Bay 2 Breakers run, the Giants game, and the August Picnic. We’ve implemented Sunday warm-ups and cool-downs, distributed more swag, and improved race announcements, while continuing to focus on consistently scheduling social events. The year is not over yet and there’s plenty more to come.

It's that time of the year to elect a new GGRC board for 2026!

Details of the process are outlined below, as well as a timeline!

Nominations start today!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to any of the current board members!

GGRC Election Process - 2026

1 – Call for Nominations (Begins today: 10/06/2025)

If you have great ideas for the club moving forward that you want to help enact or feel like the club has given you so much and you want to pay it forward, then you should consider running for a position on the board.  If this sounds like you - nominate yourself by sending an email with your prepared platform (100-250 words) for your desired position.  This should convey to the club members why you want this position and would be great at it.

Submit no later than Sunday, 10/27/2025 to: ggrcpr...@gmail.com.

Use this link to see who has already been nominated!

2 – Voting

Once we receive all the platforms, if there are any positions that have multiple candidates, we will hold club elections where paid members from 2025 will vote (anonymously). Need to pay dues? Click here Renew Membership to pay your dues. A separate email will go out on Monday, 11/10 with all the candidate's platforms.

Voting will run for 2 weeks (from 11/10 - 11/24), after which the final results will be announced!

3 – Board Transition Meeting will take place in mid-December

4 – Official transition of power at the post-Christmas Relays after-party.

GGRC 2026 Board Positions

Being a member of the board is an exciting title to have! Regardless of individual position, all board members are expected to deliver on the following:

·      Fulfill 12-month commitment throughout the 2026 calendar year

·      Make every attempt to actively engage in board meetings and decision-making

·      Participate in as many club events as possible

·      Be an ambassador to all new & existing members making them feel welcome

·      Be a positive force and friend to all club members

·      Provide safety & guidance during runs (following and enforcing Covid-19 safety protocol, ensure nobody is running alone or gets lost)

·      Answering any questions relating to their specific role and the club at large

·      Regularly attend board meetings (4 times per year, more if needed)

President:

The president is responsible for leading the club in all aspects: steering the direction of the club, serving as chief motivator to new and current members, providing guidance to other board members, leading Sunday runs, representing the club in the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), organizing & leading GGRC board meetings to achieve majority consensus on key topics, and running the board nominations and election process at the end of the year.

Treasurer & Membership:

The treasurer is responsible for all financials for the club including: managing club funds, setting a budget, tracking club spend against the budget, reimbursing other board members for club-related payments, and submitting the 501(c)(3) tax postcard. The Treasurer also manages membership by tracking membership signups, sending welcome emails to all new members upon signup, and adding new members to the GGRC Slack workspace.

Social Chair:

The social chair plans, coordinates and promotes all social events including monthly happy hours and larger special events every year (e.g. New Member BBQ). For all events, the social chair is responsible for choosing the date/location, booking space if needed, creating invites and reminders, organizing food & beverage (if provided by the club), and being positive and inclusive at these social events.

Race Coordinator:

The Race Coordinator selects a race calendar fitting for GGRC with input from the other board members. In addition to coordinating the logistics for each race (carpools, housing, etc.), the position includes rallying club participants, negotiating club discounts whenever possible, arranging for a group meal (destination races) and after parties (e.g. following Christmas Relays or Bay2Breakers) when applicable, and being the point person at the races. The individual should make regular announcements in person at weekly running events as well as through slack and email to ensure the club is well informed on race events and provided with sufficient time for registering/training.

Coach:

The coach leads the Wednesday track workouts. They are responsible for posting the workout to the group by Monday prior, guiding the workouts to align with club races, providing training plans for key club races, and answering any running-related questions.

Communications Chair:

The communications chair is responsible for all messaging for the club, including the website, the club’s primary social media accounts (e.g. Instagram, Strava, Facebook), and internal comms (e.g. Google Groups, Slack). They are responsible for keeping club members informed and working with other board members to promote upcoming events. They should maintain positive and up-to-date content and branding on the website and social media.

Merchandise Coordinator:

The merchandise coordinator designs and orders apparel and other merchandise (e.g. tees, sweaters, hats) to promote brand unity and club cohesion. They work with a third-party to design & order the products, maintain the online store, hold physical merch, and ensure that club members receive their purchased merch.

I look forward to your nomination submissions!

With miles of gratitude,

Eric
