For a fun, easier workout ahead of the Golden Gate Half Marathon, let's do our Strawberry 800s workout! (So named because we "borrowed" the workout from the Strawberry Canyon Track Club).
These are 800-Meter repeats in a relay format. Form a 3-person team (ideally running similar speeds) and run as follows:
Lap 1: Runner A starts
Lap 2: Runner A keeps running, Runner B joins
Lap 3: Runner A stops. Runner B keeps running, Runner C joins
Lap 4: Runner B stops, Runner C keeps running, Runner A Joins…
and so on. Only Runner A runs the first lap and only Runner C runs the final lap.
For each runner, 1 cycle is running 800 meters and then taking a short rest. Let’s shoot to do 4 cycles each, meaning running 3200 meters (4x 800m) in total, at around 10k pace. Don’t forget to cheer on your teammates as you run the workout together!
🔋 Post Workout:
Let’s go to Red Tail (545 Irving Street, between 6th and 7th Ave). Like the other places, they let you bring food as well. So join us for food and drinks too!
