Late Shri Edapally Raghavan Pillai…my mother late Indira Devi’s Kochachan….i too called him as Kochachan by emulating my mother…he was a coeval of Poet (Kavi) Edapally Raghavan Pillai and was a friend …he was also a friend of Poet Changampuzha Krishna Pillai. There is a road named after Poet E.R Pillai starting from high school junction (Modern Bread) to Punnackkal temple..I think my kochachan was retired in 1968 from the Aluminum Industries Ltd(Alind) Kundara as a Supdt/Supvr of Reel Shop…I presume he got job in Alind through Late Shri.BVD Menon (first MD of.Alind )by endorsement of Late Shri. K.P.Madhavan Nair (former KPCC President and a freedom fighter) who was next kin of Kochachan…he was a garrulous person and had erudite knowledge in history…he did not come to any serious collusion with management such as marked contemporary movement of opinion.
He stayed with family in a house in between Late Shri Chacko(Admin off) and Late shri Kaladharan Pillai( shipping/stores) in a hill top near Medical centre…before coming up of medical centre there was one building where stayed Late Shri Nataraja Pillai( left side… his sons are Kumaresan and Thanappan –retd TNEB, Eswari and Kanakam I forgot name of his eldest daughter ) and in right side stayed late Shri.K.K.Thomas.( f/oRadha chechi Ravi chettan and Aniyan)
The child in his lap is grand son Vinu Menon (son of Babu (Govindan Kutty Menon) of SPD Production)

Dear Rajeev,
Please write such informations regularly. I remember having attended the first marriage ceremony of Ms Kanakan took place at the quarter you mentioned in the mail.Suddenly memmory of the sweet surrounding came to my mind as a flash.
Moni`s father was very affentionate to me and used to talk very lovingly to me. It is very nice to hear that a road got name of his.I will defenitely walk in that road and do pranam to him.

Hello Pathu,
The road Edaplly Raghavan Pillai is named after the poet who wrote
'Ramanan' the highest selling poetry in india.
Manichettans father had the same name thats all.
Edappaly Raghavan Pillai comitted suicide at a young age. His sucide
note in english is rather famous.
" there must be soemething to hope for, ther must be soembody to love.
as i have no hope and nobody to love...."

First part of your reply is correct ....I find a silly error crept into your second part of write up.....I think changapuzha krishna pillai lined the words which you have quoted...and Ramanan is his master piece ...
