Things I found interesting:

Ken is both curious, driven, and simultaneously 

not motivated by competition. 

When trying to port nascent Unix to new hardware, he says he

failed three times. He and Dennis Ritchie were trying to move his

operating system into a high level language and onto

new hardware.

Knowing when to declare failure and try again with a different approach

-- is probably a very valuable skill.
