I run a forum using VBulletin software, and often send out 2,000+ e-
mails through my forum (Or at least I thought so). What is the maximum
number of e-mails that GMail will allow you to send per day?

I can only find the help page which says you can send a single message
to 500 people at the same time
(http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=22839), but I'm
decently sure that you are also only able to send 500 messages per
day.

A listserv is a more appropriate way to handle large mailings. There
are several free services (Google Groups; like this one, and Yahoo
Groups are probably the most popular). This list, for example, has
over 14,000 users. The listserv will take care of the mailing (and is
designed to handle large mailing lists), as well as field bounces, and
sub/un-subs for you.
