Backup Verification Codes

How do I use these? I currently receive verif. codes by phone (voice). Instead of verifying the code the nice lady gives me, can I input one of my backup codes? That doesn't seem right. Please advise.

I just read they are to be used when my primary way to receive codes is unavailable. Then how do I indicate I want to use a printed backup code instead of my primary phone? Thank you.

You don't indicate anything. They are single codes that one simply keeps safe in case one is unable to get codes by the primary method.
There are only 10 and once those are used, one must generate new ones.
An example was to print them and take them with when traveling.

In short, yes. They are in case the nice lady can't reach you for some reason (like when you're not at home since they call your home phone). As Marko says... they are one use only, so once you use one, it's trash.

Hi, Marko--
I guess I wasn't clear in my question. I had wondered in what manner I would input the codes since it wasn't going to be by voice or text. I have since figured it out and actually done it. That is, I not only printed out the 10 codes but now have used a couple.
