contact list selections stay active

hello,

A question for those more familiar with Gmail than me, which would be
most of you...

Whenever I select names from my contact list, and then compose / send
an email, those names STAY selected when I compose an email later, in
addition to the ones I want to send the next email too.

It's proven to be a bit embarrasing to copy people on emails that they
are not meant for, to say the least.

I've never had this problem before (Just got a new Mac), and it really
is a problem, as I don't want to have to remember to "deselect" names
of previous email recipients before I send a new message.

Can anyone help here...?

Well, there's not a lot you can do about it, unfortunately. However, if you use the amazing, wonderful, fantastic autocomplete, you'll circumvent the problem entirely. (do a search in the gmail help or this group to learn how to use it.)
