Focusing out of chat window

Hi,

Is there a way to focus out of the chat window without closing it
(like what esc does)?

Keyboard shortcut wise no, not that I know of. You can just click
somewhere else though.

 Yes, there is. When on the chat window move your cursor up to the very top of the box and click a little bar beside an up-pointing arrow. This bar only minimizes the chat box, but dosn't get rid of it.

Yes, somewhere else ON the chatbox will work.

Shift + Esc seems to be the keyboard shortcut for focussing OUT OF chat window.
