spell check

I just signed up for gmail and cannot figure out how to turn spell
check on so it checks automatically when I click send mail, which is
how my old email account worked. I've turned on autofix, but this
does not seem to work. Any ideas?

Are you using the web interface?  If so, you can not set it to check automatically.  You will have to click the "Check Spelling" link or use a browser that has a built in spell checker.

Just click on check spelling and then it will check each word and color it in yellow ,then click on each yellow word and it will give you the option words to select and it will replace the misspelled one with the one you chose.
