I don't know how to interpret this, but wonder if it could be
phishing, or worse - or maybe it's just a Google/G-mail glitch.
Here's what happened/happens. When I created my account, I used some
upper-case letters in my address. Sometimes, The System changes them
to lower-case; sometimes it does not. In a similar situation, AOL
seems not to care. I get the mail in the same account whether it was
addressed to my screen name with or without upper case letters. G-
mail, however, appears not to be working this way and I'm left
wondering where all that other email is going. For example, from my
AOL account, I wrote two test e-mails to my G-mail account - one with
and one without upper-case. Although from some parts of G-mail, the
System clearly shows the account with the same-as-originally-requested
capitalization, ONLY the all-lower-case test e-mail from AOL was
received.
Where is all the other - with upper and lower case - mail?
Thanks,
Dan
Case doesn't matter for Gmail logins either! You can login with upper or
lower case when logging in and Gmail doesn't care. But it is true that you
must specify any periods exactly as when you created the account.
Sending test emails to yourself is unfortunately tricky in Gmail. Gmail
recognizes the email sent to yourself and discards the received copy. (One
of Gmail's little annoying quirks.)

My experience is exactly the opposite ... I was having a lot of spam showing
up in my Inbox a few months ago, which has since mostly stopped. Not
everyone gets the same kinds of spam. Not everyone's spam filter works the
same way either.

I don't think you need to report it to anyone. Just keep training your
account's spam filter by hitting the Report Spam button as often as
necessary.

I'm sure Google knows about spam, they are engaged in an ongoing spam-war
with the spammers. Gmail was originally created as an in-house email system
for Google employees only, and chances are very good many Google employees
currently use Gmail and some of them are probably seeing the same kinds of
variations in effectiveness of the spam filter, that you and I do.
Even though Google strives to make their spam filters more effective, the
people who send spam also work hard to find ways around their filters. It
is a never-ending battle, and at times neither side wins.
