The company said the existing construction licence for the northern
Saskatchewan mine, where remediation work following the flood is
continuing, expires at the end of 2007.
Completion of the second phase of remediation, which includes removing
floodwater and making sure the water inflow has been sealed, had been
expected by the end of the third quarter of 2007. But in a statement
on 11 July 2007 Cameco said it expects it will need a number of
additional months to seal the inflow and dewater the mine.
The Cigar Lake project is a joint venture owned by Cameco Corporation
(50%), Areva Resources Canada (37%), Idemitsu Canada Resources (8%)
and Tepco Resources (5%).
