First, a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Red Mass will be held THIS SUNDAY, Oct. 1, at St. Matthew's Church near Farragut North.  This is the annual mass that kicks off the Supreme Court's Fall Term every year, and with five Catholic Justices sitting on the bench for the first time, we take all the blame if things go badly.  Just kidding.  Anyway, this is a great chance to see SCOTUS Justices, in a really beautiful cathedral.  The mass starts at 10am, but you have to get there at least by 9am to get through security.

After the mass, there is ONE spot left at the table that Judge Garza purchases for Georgetown Law students.  If you want the spot left, email Sr. Dorinda Young asap at you...@law.georgetown.edu

The first meeting of the semester went really well, so thanks to everyone who came by!  Here's what we've got going on so far:

MARY HOUSE
Chris is checking in with Mary House to see about volunteering opportunities for us.  For those of you who don't know, Mary House is a private charity that helps house families in need.  Right now they cater to several Bosian refugee families.  More info can be found at http://www.maryhouse.org/

CATHOLIC CHARITIES (now Catholic Community Services)
I will be looking into getting us involved with the many, many things that Catholic Charities does right now.  I could use some help, though, so if you are interested in making some contacts at CCS, let me know.

IMMIGRATION DEBATE
Anthony will be following up with several of the people involved in the immigration debate here in DC and the surrounding areas.  If you're interested in getting involved in the issue, the Church has set up a website at http://www.justiceforimmigrants.org/

DINNER WITH THE JESUITS
Sean will be contacting the Jesuit community on Main Campus to set up a date for law students to go an have dinner at their residence.  Many of the Jesuits there are great to talk to, and hopefully we'll get a day that works for as many people as possible.  If you are interested, please email me at cathol...@law.georgetown.edu

FEMINIST THEOLOGY
Sr. Dorinda is planning a lecture series on Feminist Theology, which promises to be really interesting. to those of us interested in the complex role of women both in theology as as theologians.  It will most likely be a lunchtime series, so stay tuned.

MASS READERS & EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS & MUSICIANS
Every week at the 11am mass we need people to sign up to read and to help with communion.  Please sign up at the bulletin board outside the chapel or my emailing Fr. Alexei Malechenko at mich...@georgetown.edu

WHAT TO *YOU* WANT TO SEE HAPPEN THIS FALL?
If you would like to see events, speakers, or particular volunteering opportunities, let us know!  Come by the next meeting on Wed. Oct 11, 3:30pm in room 141 or just email to cathol...@law.georgetown.edu

Cheers!
