Friends,

I need the assembly diagram and the chord factors for a 3v and 4v Octahedron dome that uses the same chord lengths for the foundation ring of the dome.

For the 2v, there is the example at SimplyDifferently with the same length chords for the base of the dome:

For the 5v, there is the Mexican Method example at Domerama that has the same chord lengths for the base of the dome:

I don't think I need 6v or higher.

What I lack are the 3v and 4v examples of an octahedral dome with all of the struts/chords at the foundation being the same length.

Does anyone have the chord factors and assembly diagrams for these domes?

And does Hector Alfredo Hernandez Hernandez have a website?  I think his work is amazing.

Your help is appreciated.

Hi John,
See the image I posted on June 29 -- 3v octahedron with all base edges equal.

Pretty sure I have the same type of info for the 4v octahedral hemisphere. I will check my files.

Chord factors of the 3v octa, class I, with struts of equal length around the foundation/base:

 A: 0.707107

B: 0.650115
 C: 0.517638

Hi John,
Here are the chord factors for the 4v Mexican octahedral hemispheric dome, all of whose 16 foundation struts are equal in length.

Share of 4v and 5v

Domerama has a mistake on 5v

I like this 4v. Is there an illustration labeling all the strut locations?

Thank you

I may have that. Along with in-between variants.

4v is similar to 5v

the color is to identify length.

Same "way", same color, same legth

Hola Hector,
I looked at Domerama's page on the 5v octahedral dome. I did not see any error in the chord factors. The numbers look good to me, accurate to 5 decimal places.

Scott,
Nice selection of domes in the Custom file, it just would have been more useful if the struts were labeled in the diagrams.

Dear Scott
This blew out my mind.
To see the neglected octahedron take on so many shapes is fascinating as is the act of putting out these models in public domain.
As early as possible , plese color the diagrams so that assembly instructions get embedded in them.
Regards

Ashok

It indicates vertical horizontal and slanted struts. And how many at each level.
