tools and aids for compound angles

I came across a patent for a tool that is elegant in its simplicity for working with compound angles.  Those of you interested in dome hubs and struts understand the issues and value of anything that makes the work easier, while improving repeatability. Those inclined to work with encoders, potentiometers and other digital sensors, it wouldn't be hard to make a digital version if desired.

  There are several ways to make the little treaded connector piece, or take one off a scrapped out part of something, like the connector used in a lamp swivel that typically has the same form.
