I thought others would find this more than just interesting. Popular Science has scanned and archived its magazine collection, and made it available at no cost. Here are two items I wanted to post:

1) The Hexa-Pent dome

Popular science June 1972 Page 80 and 81
PS had the Fuller Hexa-pent dome built by an engineering firm. They hung sixty 55 gallon drums from the frame, requiring 3000 gallons of water, generating 25,000 lbs equivalent to 60 pounds/sq. ft. This is around twice what would be required by code in most jurisdictions and currently the required spec for northern Minnesota.
