We are kicking off the year strong with a very exciting lecture from Rene Johnston, Senior Software Engineer on the Science AI team in Google Research
Title: Accelerating scientific discovery with AI-powered empirical software
Renee is currently exploring ways in which LLMs can support geospatial data science workflows. Prior to joining Google Research, Renee spent several years on the Earth Engine team, working across the stack on everything from dataset ingestion to the release of EE Apps. She then joined the sibling Google Environmental Insights team, leading a project to scale up infrastructure to estimate annual greenhouse gas emissions for thousands of cities worldwide. Renee enjoys working at the intersection of software development and environmental science, and is excited to leverage AI advances in thoughtful and useful ways.
