Hi Geo-AI Working Group,
We are thrilled have another exciting installment of our lecture series this week so please join us on 8/4/25 at 10 am CT for a presentation from Dr. Emil Cherrington. Emil is a Principal Research Scientist at the Earth System Science Center (ESSC) of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and serves as the Ecosystem & Carbon Lead at NASA’s SERVIR Science Coordination Office
Title: A Deep Learning On-Ramp via Desktop GIS
Emil is an Earth observation data scientist with over twenty years of experience working with remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS). His work has focused on the use of such technologies for land cover change detection, ecosystem monitoring, disaster response, and integrated water resource management.
This is an exciting talk where Emil will explore a few of the deep learning tools available through Esri's ArcGIS Pro platform, specifically for land cover classification and demonstrate how Esri's tools can serve as an on-ramp for those who are new to the deep learning side of geospatial artificial intelligence.
Prior to the talk feel free to check out the following
See you all at the next Geo-AI WG call!
