ON THE WEB

Liquid Treat is a web site aimed at graphic designers; every week, it
features three interesting web sites. You can subscribe to their
newsletter so that you get their choices every week in your inbox.

From reading the discussion lists, I see that I am not the only
painter who has taken up beading. For those of you who have
succumbed, here is a site with hundreds of links to beading web sites.

PAINTING TIPS
------------------------------------------------------------

When painting on fabric, place a sheet of freezer paper on the back
of the fabric and iron it on. The paper prevents the paint from
passing through fabric and adds body to the fabric so it doesn't slip
around while you paint.

Mat board is a great light-weight surface to paint on for a pin or
magnet. It is easy to cut out with a craft knife or small sharp
scissors. Framing stores often sell remnants of mat board for next to
nothing.

If you can't properly clean your brushes right after a class, put
some water and brush cleaner on them and wrap in Saran wrap or put in
a ziplock until you get back home. Lay them flat in your bag, and
clean them as soon as you can.
--Donna Slutiak

If at all possible, never leave transfer lines on a project for long
periods. Some brands set up and will never come off.
--Becky Johnston

When you are practicing new stokes or "trying" a new design element.
Do it on card stock. Save these and you can cut them out with fancy
pinking shears and make cute cards.
--Becky Johnston

Read all the instructions before beginning a project, to make sure
you have everything you need, and that you understand all the steps.
--Bobbie Pearcy

Shop your local beauty supply store or dollar store for eye shadow
sponges. These little puppies have a sponge on both ends; they are
reusable and do not fuzz out like cotton swabs. These are great for
painting the edges of a board or even small pieces like stars and
hearts that will be glued on a piece. And routed edges paint up
nicely without paint getting where it shouldn't.
