Wednesday se'ennight at Penrith, by the Rev. Mr. ROBSON, John MIRES, of York, Esq. to Miss WILSON, of Penrith.

 

Thursday se'ennight, at the same place, Mr. Robert LAMLEY, Mercer, to Miss WATSON.

 

The same day, at the same place, Mr. William RICHARDSON, Ironmonger, to Miss SISSON.

 

Monday, at the same place, Mr. John STAGG, Cabinet-maker, to Miss WHELPDALE.

[None of these four marriages are in the Penrith Parish Register Transcript, which records no marriages between 27 May 1779 and 20 Jul 1779. All four marriages were retracted in the Cumberland Pacquet of 03 Aug 1779, with no explanation.]

 

In London, by a special licence, the Right Hoanourable [sic] the Earl of Shelburne, to Miss FITZPTRICK [sic], sister to the Earl of Upper Ossory.

[Bride called Louisa FITZPATRICK in the marriage register of St. George Bloomsbury, London; they married on 19 Jul 1779 at Bedford House.]

 

DIED

 

Thursday last at his house in this town, in the 54th year of his age, John SENHOUSE of Calder-Abbey, Esq.; a gentleman greatly beloved by a numerous acquaintance; by his death society has lost a very respectable and worthy member.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was buried on 18 Jul 1779 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.]

 

On the 10th instant died at Sizergh in Westmorland, of a dropsical complaint, in the 63d year of his age, the learned and ingenious Mr. WEST, of Ulverstone, author of The History of Furness, Guide to the Lakes, &c. a gentleman deeply conversant in antiquities, of great knowledge in the sciences, and of a most remarkable communicative disposition; so highly esteemed by his acquaintances on account of his modest, inoffensive behaviour, and his many other agreeable and useful qualifications, the loss of so valuable a man will be long remembered.

 

[According to FamilySearch, Thomas WEST, aged 62, was buried on 12 Jul 1779 at Kendal (in the STRICKLAND family chapel in the parish church, according to Wikipedia).]

 

Friday, at his house in Halfmoon-street, Piccadilly the Right Hon. Frederick ST. JOHN, Viscount Bolingbroke.

[According to Wikipedia, he did not die until 05 May 1787.]

 

Last week at Broughton in Lancashire, Mrs. JACKSON, widow of the late Mr. JACKSON, surgeon in that place, who died the 30th ult.

[According to Lancashire OPC, Sarah JACKSON, aged 51, widow of Richard JACKSON, Surgeon, was buried on 12 Jul 1779 at St. Mary Magdalene, Broughton in Furness.]
