A few days ago, at Workington, Mr. Joseph HALL, Surgeon, to Miss Jane GRAYSON.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, they married on 03 Aug 1778 at St. Michael, Workington. According to the Marriage Bond, they were both aged 23 and of Workington.]

 

Same place, Mr. MARSHALL of Workington to Miss FALCON of Church-street, Whitehaven.

[According to FamilySearch, John MARSHALL of Workington and Sarah FALCON married on 14 Aug 1778 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven (not at Workington).]

 

Last week at Liverpool, Mr. BROCKBANK, sail-maker in Lancaster, to Miss THORNTHWAITE of the same place.

[According to the Parish Register, George BROCKBANK of the Parish of Lancaster, Sailmaker, and Mary BAINES (not THORNTHWAITE) of this Parish, Spinster, married on 10 Aug 1778 at St. Peter, Liverpool.]

 

A few days ago, at Bridekirk, Timothy PARKER, Esq. of London, to Miss HOSKINS, daughter of Alexander HOSKINS Esq. of Broughton in Cumberland.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Timothy PARKER of the City of Westminster, aged 29, and Anne HOSKINS of Bridekirk, aged 17, married on 04 Aug 1778 at Bridekirk.]

 

Yesterday se'ennight, at Carlisle, Captain WILSON, to Miss PATTINSON of that place.

[According to FamilySearch, Thomas WILSON and Catherine PATTINSON married on 05 Aug 1778 at St. Mary, Carlisle.]

 

Last week, at Carlisle, Mr. MILLIKEN, bookseller, to Miss COULTHARD.

[According to FamilySearch, John MILLIHON [sic] and Jane COULTHARD married on 11 Aug 1778 at Carlisle.]

 

A few days ago, at Birmingham, Edward CAIRNS, of Torr, Esq. near Dumfries, (lately of this place) to Miss HUMPHREYS of Birmingham, with a fortune of 10,000 l.

[According to the Parish Register, Edward CAIRNS, Bachelor, and Ann HUMPHRYS, Spinster, both of this Parish, married on 22 Jul 1778 at St. Philip, Birmingham.]

 

DIED

 

A few days ago, at Bewcastle, Mrs. ARMSTRONG, aged 65.

[According to the headstone in Bewcastle Churchyard, Margaret, wife of John ARMSTRONG of Bewcastle, died 04 Aug 1778 aged 65. According to FamilySearch, she was buried on 06 Aug 1778 at Bewcastle.]
