Thursday last at St. James's Church, by the Rev. Mr. SPEDDING, William MOORE, Esq. (son of Colonel MOORE) a captain in the Westmorland battalion, to Miss PALMER of Howgill street.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, William MOORE of Kirby Lonsdale and Mary PALMER married on 10 Jun 1779 at St. James, Whitehaven.]

 

Tuesday, at Morpeth, by the Rev. Mr. EKINS, Rector, the Rev. Mr. NICHOLSON, Curate of that parish, and Vicar of Millom in Cumberland, to Miss WALTON, daughter of the late Rev. Mr. WALTON, of Bothal, in Northumberland.

[According to FamilySearch, Edward NICHOLSON and Sarah WALTON married on 08 Jun 1779 at Morpeth.]

Sunday se'ennight in London, Mrs. SAWREY, relict of John SAWREY, Esq. of Broughton Tower in Lancashire; her death is greatly regretted by her tenants, and the people in general in that neighbourhood.

[According to the Parish Register, Esther SAWREY was buried on 07 Jun 1779 at St. James, Piccadilly, London.]

 

Tuesday last at Cockermouth, in the 76th year of his age, Mr. Jonathan WILKINSON, one of the people called Quakers. His actions, and conduct through life, very justly obtained him the character of an indulgent husband, a kind parent, a good neighbour, and sincere christian.

[According to the Quaker Register, Jonathan WILKINSON of Cockermouth, aged 75, died on 08 Jun 1779, and was buried on 10 Jun 1779 in Friends Burying-Ground at Cockermouth.]

 

Tuesday at Sedgefield, Mr. William TODD, late of Butterwick, a gentleman much respected.

Thursday last, in Broughton, Mr. John STELLING, a reputable tradesman.

[According to Lancashire OPC, John STILLING of Jackson Ground, aged 60, was buried on 13 Jun 1779 at St. Mary Magdalene, Broughton in Furness.]

 

At Bengal, Thomas GALE, Esq. son of the late John GALE, Esq. of this town.
